Andy Stamatiou graduated from the University of Queensland in 1990. He has worked in the public health system for the last 20 years. Dr Stamatiou commenced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2001 and was granted a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2009.

Dr Stamatiou’s obstetric practice includes the management of pregnancy and labour, and includes the management of high risk pregnancy. Patients have a choice of delivering either at the Mater Mothers Hospital or The Wesley Hospital.

Dr Stamatiou’s gynaecological practice encompasses the management of all general gynaecological conditions including menstrual disturbances, menopausal conditions, endometriosis, fibroids, prolapse and incontinence. Surgical procedures are mainly vaginal and laparoscopic. Vaginal procedures include diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, vaginal repair with colpopexy/hysteropexy, mesh repair, suburethral slings, vulval procedures and cervical procedures.

Dr Stamatiou has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery. Procedures include diagnostic laparoscopy, sterilisation, excision of ovarian cysts, excision of endometriosis, fertility procedures, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and myomectomy. Gynaecological surgery is undertaken at The Brisbane Private, The Wesley and Greenslopes Private Hospitals.
