IVF Success Rates

ivf success

City Fertility Centre has continued to set benchmark pregnancy success rates and “take-home baby” rates. We aim to utilise the latest ivf technology in providing you and your partner with the child you dream of.

The question of success rates in IVF is a complicated question whilst at the same time the simplest question to answer. A truly successful IVF treatment at City Fertility Centre is measured as a beautiful baby that you and your partner take home and proceed to spend a lifetime loving. Many centres will attempt to dazzle with statistics and various measures which scientifically are relevant for review of systems but are not useful in determining your personal chance of achieving the goal of a baby to take home. Please remember these are overall indicative pregnancy rates but are not specific to you as an individual. Depending on your medical history and other fertility related factors your chance of achieving a pregnancy may in fact be higher or lower. The team of nurses, scientists and doctors at City Fertility Centre will give you a much more personalized “pregnancy” chance after discussing your personal situation with both you and your partner.

Our success rates are among the best in the country

Success rate statistics such as those below are often presented by clinics based on selected populations of patients; therefore a comparison of clinical success rates may not be meaningful. It is important to point out that City Fertility Centre DOES NOT restrict access to treatments therefore the statistics below include a large population of patients who at other programs may have been denied cycles with their own eggs.

The graph below shows our current results in comparison with the latest overall results

from all other Fertility Clinics in Australia and New Zealand. The overall results are

reported by the Australian and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database (ANZARD).

City Fertility Centre consistently reports greater success than the average ANZARD data.

A clinical pregnancy is a pregnancy in which at least one of the following criteria is met:

  • Known to be ongoing at 20 weeks
  • Evidence by ultrasound of an intrauterine sac (with or without a fetal heart)
  • Examination of products of conception reveal chorionic villi
  • An ectopic pregnancy that has been clinically diagnosed

Frozen Embryo Transfer cycles

Cumulative success rates for IVF attempts

Cumulative success rates are the additive sucess rates for multiple cycles.

On your first attempt you will get an average success of 44% if you are a healthy couple with no other conditions that might affect your success.

IF you need to and decide to have a second cycle (fresh or frozen) you will add an additional 16%, making your chance of getting pregnant in 2 tries a total of 60%.

In three attempts, 72%, in four attempts 80% and so on.

Remember at City Fertility Centre we feel the true measure of success is when you and your partner take home your beautiful baby to spend a  life time loving.
