Helena completed her Bachelor of Science (Hons) at the University of Queensland in 1991. She then worked for two years as a research assistant in reproductive physiology at the university, where she continued to explore the captivating field of embryonic pre-implantation development.
Helena was fortunate to be able to move into clinical IVF work and completed her training in human fertility in Brisbane. She was then offered a senior role in Melbourne, which led to her taking part in the establishment of IVF units in India and Kuala Lumpur.
In 2001, Helena received the Best Scientific Paper award at the World Congress on Fertility and Sterility. As a result, she presented her work on the cryopreservation of biopsied embryos at the 2002 European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology conference in Vienna.
In 2006, Helena was delighted to have the chance to join City Fertility Centre as the laboratory manager, and to be part of a team that built and established a new IVF clinic in Melbourne.
Helena is now the program manager for City Fertility Centre’s Melbourne and Adelaide clinics. She remains committed to providing the best possible outcome for patients, along with the compassionate and personalised care that is of paramount importance to City Fertility.
