Dr Priya Rajagopal is an experienced Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist at City Fertility, providing personalised, compassionate and evidence-based reproductive care.
She supports individuals and couples throughout their fertility journey, from initial fertility assessment and preconception planning through to fertility treatment and fertility preservation. Dr Priya believes that fertility care should extend beyond treatment alone, with careful consideration given to the underlying gynaecological conditions that may influence reproductive health and the chances of conception.
Her areas of expertise include fertility and reproductive medicine, endometriosis, adenomyosis, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), fibroids, ovarian cysts, menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. Her combined experience in fertility and gynaecology enables her to take a holistic approach, developing treatment plans around each patient’s individual circumstances, reproductive goals and broader health needs.
After completing her initial medical training in Chennai, India, Dr Priya undertook advanced specialist training through Eastern Health in Melbourne. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and holds a Master of Reproductive Medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Priya has a strong commitment to medical education. As a RANZCOG-accredited training supervisor, she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of specialists in women’s health.
At the heart of Dr Priya’s approach is a belief that fertility care should be a partnership. She takes the time to listen to her patients, understand their priorities and explain investigations and treatment options clearly. Her aim is to ensure patients feel informed, supported and confident throughout what can often be a complex and deeply personal journey.
Q&A:
Dr Priya: “During my work in gynaecology, I met many women for whom starting or growing a family was incredibly important, but the path wasn’t always straightforward. I wanted to be able to support them through that entire journey — from understanding why they may be having difficulty conceiving through to exploring fertility treatment and IVF when needed. That desire to provide continuity of care is what led me to specialise further in reproductive medicine.”
Dr Priya: “When someone has complex gynaecological issues alongside fertility concerns, treatment isn’t always straightforward. My background in gynaecology allows me to look beyond fertility alone, understand the underlying clinical picture and consider how best to manage both their reproductive goals and their broader gynaecological health.
For me, it’s about finding the right approach for that individual woman — not simply following the same pathway for everyone.”
Dr Priya: “I understand that starting fertility treatment can feel overwhelming, with a lot of information, questions and emotions to navigate. My role is to make things clearer — to explain what we’re looking for, what the options are, and why we might recommend one approach over another.
I want my patients to feel comfortable asking any question, including the ones they may feel hesitant or embarrassed to ask. There should be no question that feels too small or too difficult to discuss.
We’ll take it one step at a time. I want every patient to leave their appointment feeling heard, informed and clearer about what comes next.”
