Dr Devora Lieberman is the Medical Director at our Sydney CBD clinic. A gynaecologist and IVF specialist, she sees enabling people to have the families they want as a privilege. Being her patients’ biggest supporter and their voice of reason is what Dr Lieberman values most.

A New Yorker who moved to Australia in the late-90s to marry, Dr Devora Lieberman is a fertility and miscarriage specialist whose primary purpose is to help people to have the family they so desperately want.
As open and honest as she is supportive, Dr Lieberman’s patients value her extensive knowledge and experience. Many women and couples seek Dr Lieberman out after experiencing recurrent miscarriage or IVF failure.
According to Dr Lieberman, almost always, when a pregnancy fails, it’s about the embryo.
“It’s rarely about a woman’s ability to carry a baby. I find what most people need is reassurance. There is just about nothing a person can do to cause a pregnancy to fail.”
Ovarian aging is another area of interest of Dr Lieberman, who holds the position of Medical Director of City Fertility’s Sydney CBD clinic.
While there aren’t any proven treatments to reverse this, she says IVF is the best option for women challenged by the age-related decline in fertility.
“Not because we make eggs or embryos better in the lab, but because we make more in any given cycle, increasing the odds of finding a good one among them,” she notes.
Dr Lieberman is passionate about women’s health and remains active outside of her practice. She was President of Family Planning NSW for 12 years and President on the Board of Sexual Health and Family Planning.
She held a position as Director of the Fertility Society of Australia for several years, spending two years as Vice President.
She was also contributed her expertise as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Menopause Clinic at Royal North Shore Hospital for 17 years, and more recently co-authored a research paper on attitudes, knowledge and practice regarding the Anti-Müllerian Hormone test, a test that looks at egg quantity not the quality of those eggs.
Dr Lieberman writes and speaks about fertility-related issues to professional and consumer audiences and is the co-author of Empowered Fertility alongside Clare Hall.
The book provides readers with information and support to address physical, psychological, emotional and social challenges that arise when dealing with infertility and IVF treatment.
